Driveways · Patios · Block Paving
We supply the stone and we lay it. Driveways, patios and block paving installed by our own tradesmen across Somerset and the South West, with a free no-obligation quote before you commit.
Supplier and installer
Most paving jobs involve two companies: a merchant who sells you the stone and a contractor who lays it. When something goes wrong, each points at the other. We do both, so there is nobody to pass the blame to.
You choose your materials in our Tarnock showroom, where you can handle full-size slabs and setts rather than guessing from a photo. Our own team then prepares the ground and lays them. One point of contact, one price, one company responsible for the finished result.
What we install
Hard-wearing, easy to repair and available in a wide range of colours and laying patterns. Individual blocks can be lifted and replaced if a service ever needs digging up.
The most cost-effective way to cover a large area with a durable surface. Often paired with a block paving border or apron to lift the finish.
Indian sandstone, limestone, slate and granite, laid on a full wet bed of mortar with a slurry primer to the underside of every slab.
Designed around your space, with cuts, steps and edging worked out on site.
Dense, low-porosity and colour-stable, so it resists staining and algae better than most natural stone. A popular choice for contemporary gardens.
Requires the right primer and jointing compound, which we handle as standard.
Doing the work yourself or using your own builder? Buy the materials from us and collect from Tarnock, or have them delivered anywhere in mainland UK.
How it works
Call or send an enquiry with a rough idea of the area and what you have in mind. No obligation, no pressure.
We measure up, check access and ground conditions, and give you a clear written price.
Visit the showroom to see full-size samples in daylight. We will advise on what suits the setting and the traffic it needs to take.
Excavation, sub-base and drainage. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides how long the surface lasts.
Stone laid, cut and jointed, edges set, site cleared. We walk the finished job with you before we leave.
Built to last
Minimum Type 1 MOT sub-base under block paving driveways, compacted in layers before anything is laid.
Block depth matched to use. 50mm or 60mm for standard domestic driveways, 80mm for commercial and heavy traffic areas.
What a properly constructed driveway should give you before any movement shows. Get the base wrong and it is a fraction of that.
Patio slabs are laid on a full wet bed of mortar with a slurry primer applied to the underside of each slab, never on spot dabs. It costs more in labour and it is the difference between a patio that lasts and one that rocks and stains within a couple of seasons.

Just had a new driveway installed by Perfect Pave. From start to finish the process has been brilliant, good communication and advice throughout from Alex. The finished product has passed all expectations and the quality of workmanship cannot be faulted, equally all the staff have been courteous and professional. Well recommended.

It depends on the overall area, the access to your property and the paving you choose. Rather than guess, we will visit, measure up and give you a free written quote with no obligation.
Standard domestic driveways are laid with 50mm or 60mm pavers. Commercial and heavy traffic areas should be constructed using 80mm. We will confirm the right depth when we see the site.
We would not recommend it. General paving slabs are designed for foot traffic as part of a patio. A driveway needs paving specifically rated for vehicle loads, otherwise it will crack.
There are specific porcelains made for driveway use, and we supply those alongside the much wider range designed for patios only. Ask us before you buy, because most porcelain paving is not suitable for vehicles.
Usually not, but the rules depend on how surface water is dealt with, which is why permeable block paving is worth considering. Check with your local authority before work starts, and we can talk through the options when we quote.
A typical domestic driveway runs to several days on site once the groundwork starts. We will give you a realistic timescale with your quote and let you know if weather is likely to move it.
We install across Somerset and the surrounding South West from our base at Tarnock, near Axbridge. Paving supply is nationwide, delivered anywhere in mainland UK.
